Hello again,
After a long time I decided that I really had to write something.
I don’t know why I always decide to do these things when I’m sick ;)
Well, I’ve been in Huambo for three and a half months but since then I’ve written almost nothing about it.
But first of, all I’ve been is very busy meeting people and working hard. Second, I had a lot of questions on my mind like how did I end up here? And others existential questions as well … :P
I live in Huambo, a safe and “calm” place. People are friendly, you can walk around at night (even if I am totally prohibited from doing so). Huambo is where I’m based.
I really love my job (even if sometimes things don´t work in the way that I expected…). It’s part of my job dealing with the felling of frustration so, right now I’m really improving that. But I’ll forget how things work here and I'll remember that keep trying to improve the system is just a naive exercise.
And by the way, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… hahaha That’s really true!
Now, we have the elections coming up… some prospects of change?!!! Im my humble opinion, no… I don’t think so.
There is no dialogue, no democracy but I really hope that sooner or later this will come to an end. (naive again?!)
Changing the topic:
About my friends: In a certain way, it’s really nice to stay here because you can also learn how people from different countries are dealing and surviving in different ways as I am… I mean, my friends are from England, USA, Scotland, Spain, France, Lebanon, Brasil, Angola, Portugal, Italy, Argentina, and the feelings are so different… this is the part I like very much. We share our problems and wow, sometimes I get angry with some points of view but most of the time I change my mind because, here, we have people with many years of experience in Africa and they really know what they are talking about. So it’s very nice when we discuss our lives, our experiences, and dreams, a mixture of many feelings, yes, indeed!
Most of my friends live together. Each organization have its own house: ACH, THE HALO TRUST, OXFAM,…They have TVs, nice rooms, kitchens and someone that cooks and clean the house. They live all together, eat together and work together. It’s just like happy families! I’m jealous because with FAO we have a diferent policy with myself living on my own in a very small, but very nice house.
Last weekend we had a party. It was really nice to have all these expats together. Some pictures are at Facebook…
Let’s talk also about my birthday. I really wanna say thank you to all my friends that were here and also to my friends that remembered me sending messages and emails. Thank you so much!
Pictures of my b_day also are at Facebook…
So, becoming 30 isn’t so hard as I imagined, but I prefer not talking about it ;)
All my good intentions to post something on my blog monthly seem not to be kept up and I'm not even sure why. I really hope that more motivation to write will come soon because I don’t like to leave my blog like that…
